As a seasoned newborn and baby photographer, I’m a huge fan of minimalist styling during your session. Here’s why:

I love minimalist styled photos because it allows the focus to remain on your sweet babe, and allows the images to remain timeless when displayed on your walls over the years to come. In my opinion, there is nothing sweeter or more classic than a simple white backdrop behind or underneath your little one as they show off their latest expressions and physical abilities. As cheesy as this might sound, and don’t judge me for saying it… it truly allows the backdrop to be the canvas, and your babe to be the “art”.

I often encourage families to dress minimally as well, to keep the galleries feeling cohesive.

If we use props in the photos, you’ll also notice a timeless theme. Many of the props are classic wooden antiques or Montessori style toys.

The client closet I keep for babies, toddlers and mamas repeats this theme. What can I say? They just photograph SO beautifully!

All of that said, I also keep a range of colors and tones on hand to customize your gallery and to reflect your home, style and baby nursery theme. This is based on the answers you provide in your client questionnaire during the booking process. We can sprinkle the colors in through the use of an outfit, a prop, a toy, balloons, and accessories like hats and headbands!
